Thank you SO much! Thank you all for allt he comments, I am really happy that this post helped so many. Does any of you guys know why? Oh,my goodness. Thank you so very much. This technique brought back 2 weeks worth of my work. I’m an architect student and I accidentally saved over my current work with A blank document. Cheers to you, my friend! Love you kkk! I was about to shit myself!

AutoSave Inventor files. Back to Idea Board. Tags 2. Find more ideas tagged with: auto. Not applicable. I think that most people won’t this autosave. You can do it with iLogic. Personally, I’d never, ever want an Autosave. You do realize that if you crash, there’s always the backup file you can access, right?

Wonderful Enhancement in this release. RichardCizik 1. If this happened then you would only loose the last set of operations. Rich C. Thank you Nicolas. Regards Ralf. Please Autodesk, consider this modification. Come on Autodesk, why not? Autosave isn’t going to fix that.. Back to Topic Listing Previous Next. Message 1 of 6. Is there a timed autosave setting in IV for automatically saving while you are working? I used to hit the “control S” a lot, but with switching to a motion controller my left hand doesn’t spend that much time on the keyboard.

Message 2 of 6. No, there is no autosave in Inventor. Message 4 of My number one reason for crashing, creating new parts within an IAM and not do the initial save.

Message 5 of I couldn’t count the times it’s crashed on all my fingers and toes in the last three weeks. I always hit send report, but I really don’t know how to trouble shoot it as far as why it keeps shutting down.

Message 6 of Post the information requested here Message 7 of Could you please provide dataset and the steps to reproduce the crash? My mail address is bo. This will help a great deal to look into the crash issue that you are facing.

Message 8 of The problem is that there is no particular dataset that causes the crash, so at the moment I can’t even think of one in particular. However, what I can say at the moment us that it is usually larger assys that have several sets of flexible subassys, that may have flexible assys in them as well.

For instance, I have an oven door assy, and then in that assy I place a subassy that contains a fan and an electrical harness.

The fan will be constrained to the door, but harness will not be since I need to move it once I place the door into the main oven assy, so I make the fan assy flexible within the door. Then, I insert the door assy into the top level oven assy, and make the door assy flexible so I can then move the harness in the door to the location in the oven wherre it needs to be showed. Did this resolve your issue? Please accept it “As a Solution” so others may benefit from it.

Personally I would never want such during the modeling process. Learn to save as you need to, not when the system times it. For example, I’m in the middle of a complex boolean operation that takes a few moments to complete Now I have to start that operation over again, not to mention the possibility that it’s not what I wanted to save. Sorry, but no, I’m fully against having an Autosave function. In the 30 odd years of being on CAD I could count on one hand the number of times the system crashed where I lost any major time in work.

Learn to save your work! O’Flaherty, never go into small computers. There’s no future in them” – Dr. Choi circa First Autodesk makes the software.. Not the users that assist in this forum. So its not our software.. I’m not looking for a band-aide fix.. Perhaps an auto-save function would be nice.. But you are faced with an issue crashes and having an auto-save function for you in my opinion is just a band-aide fix.

Its not solving the actual root cause. That’s where I would be focusing on to solve that.. Take my reply or others to your management.. I don’t really care because I would tell them you need to focus on the root cause and not a band-aide fix. Or have them join the discussion. Okay my 2 cents.. The fact that you replied to this one thread means that you are interested in this topic.

This is indeed one of the most frequently asked questions or request. I fully understand the frustration of not having Auto Save in Inventor. But, I do want to articulate why it is not yet implemented. There are differences among them.
